Winding a New Warp

The warp threads are the long threads that feed thru the heddles of the loom.  They are the 1 and 0’s of the fabric computer and create the pattern in the fabric.

the vertical purple cotton threads is the warp. This is a plain weave one shaft up (1) and one shaft down (0). The next row will reverse with 1 down and 0 up. Easy!

Today I am winding a new warp of orange tencel that will hold together a fabric of novelty yarn.

In between winding the warp I take breaks to organize the weaving supplies.
