How to make an illuminated centerpiece with fresh flowers, thru hole LEDs, and 3V coin cell batteries.
Gather supplies:
Insert LED thru a fresh cut flower.
Use flowers that accentuate the LED such as a cleome or dahlias.
Place a layer of Flower Dri silica on the bottom of a tupperware container and then place the flower with the inserted LED in the container.
Use a small sifter/strainer to gently shake the Flower-Dri on to the flower.
Cover the entire flower with the silica gel until it is completely buried and you can not see the flower.
Close the tupperware container and let the flower sit for a few days until dry.
When taking the flower out the container dig down to the bottom of the container and carefully lift the dried flower out.
Place a 3V coin cell battery between the LED leads, aligning the polarity, and secure it with tape.
The metal leads of the LED will straddle the two sides of the coin cell battery. The longer lead is generally positive and should connect to the positive terminal of the battery.
Use tape to hold the battery in place to the LED. In generally the LED will remain illuminated for days.
