Looking back at the development of my eTextile breadboards.    

  I had finished sewing an Atmel ATtiny45 into a paper breadboard when I realized that I hadn’t programed the micro controller! Luckily I was able to attach alligator clips to the ATtiny45 pins and program the chip with a fade program via an Arduino Uno.    

  Use tape to attach conductive thread to the positive and negative terminals of a 3V coin cell battery to power up a thru hole LED.

  Speaker prototypes from conductive thread.    

  First – take a deep breath and drink some water. Sewing while stressed out is no fun!   Second – tie some more conductive thread to the trace with a snug knot. Rethread your needle. Keep on sewing!.     Electrons don’t care about a knot. Nope… they just keep running down the trace!  

  While in Slovenia I’ve had some time to test Syscom Metal Clad conductive thread with more traditional crafts such as crochet.     This thread does not have many twists allowing the crochet hook to snag strands of thread yielding an uneven and hairy chain.     This thread is also slippery and has a metal ‘spring’ to it […]

  Bobbin lace class continues in Ljubljana, Slovenia.     This is a simple ribbon lace with Syscom Amber Strand conductive thread bobbins on the two rails.          

  In my random supply closet I found some silk hand painted black light reactive discs.     Using glue I attached a coil of conductive thread.     The resistance for this coil is less than 6 ohms.     Then I attached the eTextile speaker to a mini travel speaker circuit and listened to some jams.
